Liverpool are planning a £40 million January raid on Southampton, according to The Sun.

Jurgen Klopp wants to bring defensive duo Virgil van Dijk and Sam McQueen to Anfield in a bid to bolster his backline.

Van Dijk has been one of the standout defenders in the Premier League over the past two seasons while McQueen impressed after making his debut earlier this campaign.

The clubs are certainly familiar with one another, with Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Sadio Mane all having swapped the south coast for Merseyside in recent years.
