RUMOURS: Crystal Palace face new threat to Evra deal

The Premier League side had been close to signing the 35-year-old, but they may not have it all their own way

Crystal Palace had hope to secured the signing of veteran France left-back Patrice Evra, but L’Equipe reports the Premier League side face competition from Lyon.

The Juventus defender has previously stated his admiration for the Rhone side, and with the Serie A champions linked with a move for OL’s Corentin Tolisso, it is thought that they could use him as a bargaining chip in any transfer.

Lyon’s defence has been shaky this term, and they believe an old head like Evra, who had been linked with Manchester United earlier in the window, could make a dramatic difference to their fortunes.

That does not spell good news for Sam Allardyce’s men, even if they remain on the cusp of the 35-year-old’s signature.
