The Three Lions are looking to finish top of the group to ensure they get a more manageable tie in the second round but Roy Hodgson is expected to field a much changed side

England boss Roy Hodgson is set to make six changes to his starting line-up for Monday's crunch Group B clash with Slovakia.

The Three Lions are looking to finish as winners of the pool, as they sit one point ahead of Wales and Slovakia heading into the last game of the round.

Various British outlets, including Guardian and Sky Sports News, are reporting that Rooney, who has played in a deeper role in the draw with Russia and win over Wales, will be replaced in the first-team by Jordan Henderson, while Jack Wilshere will take Dele Alli's place.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand are to be given a run out in place of regular full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

After emerging from the bench to fire England to victory against Wales, Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy are expected to start, replacing Harry Kane, who is yet to score in the tournament, and Raheem Sterling.

Hodgson's men are under pressure to top their group as it would give them a hypothetically easier tie in the next phase than if they finish third.

And the manager admitted that he is open to making big changes to the squad to keep his players fresh as they look to go deep in the tournament.

“It wouldn’t be a problem if I wanted to keep the same side but there are players who would like to play and have been knocking on the door to play,” he said.

“I have the option because everyone is anxious to show what they want to do. It’s a question of what we’d like to do, rather than what is necessary.”
