'He's not slacking' - Morgan throws weight behind Mahrez

The 26-year-old has been linked severally with a move away from the King Power Stadium but club captain sees no change in the winger's attitude

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan has thrown his weight behind teammate and want-away winger Riyad Mahrez in the wake of rumours he wasn’t giving his best performance for the club.

The Algeria international who had earlier stated in May the wanted a new challenge elsewhere - with the Foxes rejecting a weak bid from AS Roma. 

But the Englishman has said all that hasn't had an impact on the winger's performances and he's still playing at the highest level:

''Everyone knows about Riyad Mahrez. We`ve seen what a difference he can make,” Morgan told Leicester Mercury.

“He's got the key to unlocking defences. I think you can see on the pitch that he's not slacking.

“He's putting in a shift for the boys. He's a Leicester player and that`s all I can say.

“Whatever happens with a potential transfer, long may that continue to be the case when it comes to his attitude as after everything he's achieved with us I don't think there's anyone that would like this to sour those memories and his displays.”
