The winger scored and assisted with another to help the Foxes demolish West Brom and he is looking forward to moving up the log

Riyad Mahrez is aiming to finish high with Leicester City at the end of the season after helping them to a 4-1 demolition of West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The winger was among the goals as the Foxes overturned an early deficit to secure victory over the Baggies at the Hawthorns.

The win ensured that the King Power Stadium outfit maintain their eighth spot in the English Premier League log and the 27-year-old is optimistic that the club could finish higher at the end of the season.

“It could be [a successful end to the season] because we still have eight games to go, we can still finish seventh, maybe sixth, we never know,” Mahrez told Leicester Mercury.

“We conceded early and, after that, we had to play higher in their half and that’s what we did. We scored and in the second half, we were better than them.

“After the second goal, it was difficult for them to come back. We know how difficult it is to be in this position, because we’ve been in this position three years ago.”

The Algeria international also played a crucial role as Claude Puel’s men secure passage into the quarterfinal of the FA Cup setting up Jamie Vardie to score the solitary goal against Sheffield United.

The former Le Havre player who has now scored 11 goals and contributed eight assists in all competitions this season is hoping that the Foxes can continue the momentum when they face Chelsea on Sunday.

“We have the Quarter-Final of the FA Cup and it will be very important for us to keep going in this competition because it’s Europe as well. For the Club, that’s very good, so we will see next week.”
