Rita Chikwelu inspires Kristianstad victory

The Super Falcons midfielder netted the opener for her side to secure a narrow away win against Kopparbergs Göteborg in Gothenburg

Nigeria international Rita Chikwelu was on target as Kristianstad secured a 2-1 victory over against Kopparbergs Göteborg at the Valhalla IP.

The Nigerian, who featured alongside her compatriot Ogonna Chukwudi opened the scoring in the 55th minute to inspire her Damallsvenskan side to their sixth win this season on Sunday.

After Chikwelu's opener had put the visitors in front, Mia CarlsCarlsson scored 10 minutes later to seal the away victory despite Pauline Hammarlund pulled one back for the hosts.

The 29-year-old's goal was her third this season in 16 appearances for Elisabet Gunnarsdottir's ladies, who are now sixth on the log with 21 points.

They will host second-placed Rosengard in their next league encounter on Saturday, September 30 at the Vilans IP.
