This week sees El Clasico make its debut in the USA in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd in Miami.

The two biggest clubs in world football have returned to North America this month for the International Champions Cup, an annual festival of pre-season football which features some of the greatest names in the world game.

The 2017 edition has taken some of Europe’s most historic clubs to the USA, China and Singapore, though Barcelona and Real Madrid are playing their three respective matches in the United States.

It all kicked off on July 18 and runs through to the end of the month.

WILL CRISTIANO RONALDO PLAY EL CLASICO?

He will not. The event organisers were desperate to ensure that the reigning World Player of the Year attends the showpiece event after missing his side’s first two matches in the USA, but Cristiano Ronaldo's appearance was eventually ruled out.

On Friday, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross remained hopeful, revealing he had a private jet waiting to fly Cristiano to Florida, but el Clasico will go on without him.

The Portugal international was given an extended summer break by Real Madrid after leading his country in the Confederations Cup and the recent births of his twins.

WILL NEYMAR & MESSI BE AT EL CLASICO?

Lionel Messi Neymar Barcelona

Both the Brazil star and the Argentina man are set to line up against their rivals in Miami.

Neymar has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with a world-record move to French giants PSG this summer, and he hit the headlines again on Friday after a training ground bust-up with new Barca colleague Nelson Semedo.

The 25-year-old has lit up the ICC this month, scoring two brilliant goals to defeat Juventus in Barca's ICC opener before adding another against Manchester United.

He appears set to link back up with his famed MSN trio, alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, as Barca look to earn some early bragging rights over Madrid ahead of the new season.

HOW CAN I WATCH EL CLASICO?

EL CLASICO PLAYERS TO WATCH

All eyes would have been on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the greatest the game has ever seen - but Madrid have more than enough to keep onlookers occupied.

A whole host of stars will be on show as each team goes in search of some early-season bragging rights over their great rivals.

These are the two biggest clubs in world football, and both sides are littered with stars. From Neymar, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta to Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos, no fixture in world football can produce 22 players of such high quality.
