Kennedy Boboye has disclosed that Plateau United's ambition is to return to the summit of the Nigerian top-flight after defeating leaders Lobi Stars 2-1.
Having secured a 1-1 draw at Akwa United a week ago, the reigning champions were searching for their first win in four consecutive matches against the Pride of Benue in Jos.
The hosts made a disappointing start after Sunday Akleche's 27th minute effort put the visitors in front but Reuben Bala struck from the spot to make it 1-1 three minutes from half time.
Five minutes from full time, debutant Jesse Akila was brought down inside the visitors' area to gift the Peace Boys a penalty and Bala wasted no time to convert from the spot the match-winner.
Following the hard-fought win, the gaffer lauded his players for playing to instructions and their incredible comeback.
"I give kudos to my players because they really played to expectations [against Lobi Stars]," Boboye told Goal.
"They scored the first goal but we remained strong as a team to come from a goal down to get a victory against them. They came here last season to pick a draw and almost denied us the title.
"it was a good result for us and we will keep up our determination to finish well this season. We are working hard to make sure we find ourselves where we rightly belong.
"Our desire is to be at the first position and end up winning the league title again in other to return back to the continent."
The win took Plateau United to second on the log with 36 points - one adrift leaders Lobi and they will trip to Port Harcourt to face Rivers United on Sunday.
