Patrick Tignyemb confident Bloemfontein Celtic will repeat 2012 Telkom Knockout triumph

Tignyemb is the only survivor from the side that last won the Telkom Knockout, and he is confident they will clinch it again

Bloemfontein Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb has a feeling that they will walk away with the Telkom Knockout title on Saturday.

“I told the guys at training that the feeling I had in 2012 before the final in Durban is the same one I have now,” Tignyemb told the media.

That success which was also achieved in the KZN province pushed them on to achieve their best joint league finish as they ended fifth that season.

“I know that if we keep the same fighting spirit that we have shown this season, we will win it. Wits are a big team.

“They’ve proven that. But we are also a good team. We are strong and we believe in ourselves,” Tignyemb said.

As far as the Premiership title goes, the Cameroonian believes they are in with a shout, but they must first get the job done by lifting South Africa’s league cup.

Since arriving in the country nine years ago, the 2012 TKO success remains Tignyemb’s only piece of silverware to date and is desperate to add another one to equation.

“We know that if we work and fight hard like we have done, we will beat them. 2012 is a long time ago. I need one more title. If we get this trophy, we will have a lot of motivation to go far in the league.

“Our main target is to win the Telkom and go as far as possible in the league. As far as possible means winning it (the league). But we must start with this Cup and create a winning culture first,” Tignyemb concluded.
