The Porcupine Warriors assistant coach is said to be unhappy at the club following the arrival of Zdravko Lugarusic but he has denied such reports

Asante Kotoko assistant Michael Osei has rubbished reports that he is set to quit the club following the arrival of new head coach Zdravko Lugarusic, who signed a two-year contract last week.

Osei, who took over from David Duncan last season and guided the club to finish fifth, is reportedly unhappy after not being named as the substantive coach despite leading the club throughout their pre-season.

However, he has denied the reports, saying it is complete falsehood and has pledged his support for the new boss.

''I am surprised, because I have not said or taken that decision, I don’t know where it is coming from because I'm not leaving,'' Osei told Peace FM.

''I am ready to work with Luga. He is the head coach and we have to give him our support, I have to help him so the team will move forward.

"I pledged my support to him and the club because it matters at this time. I'm ready to work wholeheartedly with him for Kotoko to succeed. I'm the assistant coach and I accept it because one day, I may be the head over someone and would hope that person gives his all so that I succeed," he added.

Kotoko will continue their pre-season with a friendly against Al Ittihad Tripoli next week in Libya.

The new season is scheduled to kick off on February 4, after litigation delayed the initial date.
