After a drawn-out saga, the MLS club announced an agreement had been found with a terse statement

Orlando City has confirmed the club has come to an agreement with Turkish side Besiktas over the transfer of Cyle Larin.

The move ended a dispute between the MLS side and the Turkish club over Larin, who had previously undergone a physical with Besiktas against Orlando City's wishes.

But on Tuesday, Orlando City confirmed the 22-year-old Canadian forward is on his way to Turkey – albeit with a statement that barely concealed the club's bitterness at the situation.

"Although the club was disappointed with the unacceptable behavior of the athlete and his representatives, a decision was taken to guarantee compensation with the club’s future in mind," Orlando City said in a team release.

"The club looks forward to focusing on the upcoming season with staff and players who honor and respect the strong values of the club and commitment to our community to lead us through 2018 and beyond."

At issue was Larin's contract option, which Orlando City claimed was a team option while Larin and Besiktas were of the opinion that the striker could use the option to unilaterally depart the club.

Earlier this month, after Larin turned up in Turkey to take a physical and train with Besiktas, Orlando City released a statement saying: "The club has not agreed to terms on a transfer of Larin and will take all necessary action against Besiktas in response to the announcement.

"Larin remains under contract with Orlando City through 2019 and is expected to join his teammates at preseason camp later this month."

Larin scored 43 goals over three seasons in Orlando after the club made him the first overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
