Okumbi drops Leopards keeper in new team adjustment

AFC Leopards keeper Ian Otieno and Western Stima forward Fredrick Shimonyo will not play for Kenya against Malawi

Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi has yet again made changes to his team which will play against Malawi in a friendly match set for Tuesday at Machakos County Stadium.   

The coach has dropped six players including AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ian Otieno a day before the match. The others include Western Stima forward Fredrick Shimonyo, Kariobangi Sharks defender Pascal Ogweno, Bandari’s Siraj Mohammed, Chris Masinza (Vihiga United) and Zeka Wakoli (GFE 105).

Shimonyo, Ogweno, Masinza and Wakoli have been dropped due to passport issues while the rest have been dropped ‘normally’ as described to Goal by FKF’s head of communication Barry Otieno.“I can confirm that the coach has announced the changes to the team with Ian Otieno, Mohammed, Shimonyo, Ogweno, Masinza and Wakoli being dropped.”

Mathare United’s Daniel Mwaura has been called up to the team as a result.
