The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced that it will seek a neutral venue for the Asian Cup qualification group match between DPR Korea and Malaysia, which is scheduled to take place on June 8 2017.

In a statement issued on Thursday, AFC wrote that it will begin receiving offers from association countries that are interested in hosting the match, and that the final decision will be made on May 8 2017.

"The final decision on whether the match will be played at a neutral venue will be made on May 8, 2017, taking into consideration the political situation between the two countries especially with regard to the travel ban imposed by the Malaysian Government, which led to the postponement of the match originally scheduled for March 28, 2017."

On top of this, AFC will also wait for further information regarding the travel ban issued by the Malaysian government to the Malaysia national team.

It is believed that DPR Korea, the hosts of the match, has failed to offer a neutral venue for the match by the due date initially set by AFC; April 14.

The match had earlier been postponed by the AFC, before the association decided that it cannot be played in the republic, and instructed DPR Korea to find a neutral venue.
