Nkosi: Kaizer Chiefs needed this mid-season break

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi tells Goal that the mid-season break due to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon won’t disturb the momentum the club in the last two matches of 2016.

However, he feels the onus will be on the technical team, saying they have to ensure that the players stay on the right levels so that they come back stronger.

“They gained some momentum before the break. I think now the coaches have to make sure that the players stay on the right levels for them to come back in form,” Nkosi told Goal.

“It’s very tricky because this break can affect the momentum of the team and many others in the league. The players had played a lot of games also. So the rest was important, but it has to be managed properly,” Nkosi added.

Amakhosi revived their title hopes with successive league wins at home to Polokwane City and then away to Golden Arrows in Durban.

Nkosi, who had two spells with the club, is happy with how the players acquitted themselves in their last two games of 2016 and backs them to maintain it provided they work extra hard.

“I am happy with the character of the players and how they acquitted themselves in the last two games. I think they should just work hard on it to make it better for the future,” Nkosi concluded.
