Niger Tornadoes get new management committee

Ahead of their new Nigeria topflight campaign, the Ikon Allah Boys will resume with a fresh leadership board of nine-man team

Niger state government announced the appointment of a new nine-man management committee for Nigeria Professional Football League side, Niger Tornadoes.

In a statement, Baba Sheshi, the Director of Sports in the state ministry of youth and sports development, further confirmed the dissolution of the former management team.

The new leadership will be headed by Abubakar Gawu and Bello Auta will serve as his vice chairman, while Aliyu Muazu retained his post as team's secretary.

Awwal Idris and Usman Alfa returned as the team's manager and welfare officer respectively with Sani Balarabe named marketing officer. Abdullahi Likita will be the Liaison officer, Abdullahi Dangana as media officer and Usman Mohammed as the adviser.

Gawu and his team were inaugurated on Thursday, December 28 in Minna and will take over the affairs of the Ikon Allah with immediate effect ahead of the new season campaign.

Abubakar Bala's men, who finished as Federation Cup runners-up after they ended 11th on the league log in 2017, will begin their new season against Kwara United at the Kwara Township Stadium, Ilorin on January 14, 2018.
