Gor Mahia fans have already given the club’s new coach, Dylan Kerr a new name even before the Englishman is unveiled on Saturday.
“We will call him Ker,” Nahum Odemba said on the club’s official Facebook page following news that Kerr is set to replace Brazilian Ze Maria as Gor Mahia coach. ‘Ker’ is a Luo word for a King and K’Ogalo faithfuls will have no difficulties shouting out instruction to ‘Ker Dylan’ from the terraces.
But even as Gor Mahia prepares to welcome their new manager, some fans have already sent warning shots to the new ‘King’ in town on what he should expect at ‘Tok Komwanda ’ - City Stadium, home of Gor Mahia.
“He should know that Gor Mahia is not an academy. It is a club where we expect to see net shaking and Gor Mahia games should not be like a funeral,” said Kennedy Osewe of Kerr, who was a coach at Chesterfield FC academy.
Some however, did not have kind word for the club’s executive. “We are used to them. They come but when the team holds together and he demands some pay increase, he's chased away. We won't go far with such attitude,” said Jeff Allan .
Gabriel Obonyo added: “But let the contract be known to the supporters not only for him to leave after six months.”
