Nelson Mandela signs for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt

The German Bundesliga side have have offered a professional contract to the former Barcelona youth player

Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have offered a professional contract to teenage striker Nelson Mandela.

Named after the iconic South African politician who died in 2013, the 18-year-old striker from Cameroon certainly has a lot to live up to.

Mandela - whose full name is Nelson Mandela Mbouhom - transferred to Die Adler where he was outstanding with eight goals in 14 games for their under-19 side.

Mandela began his youth career at Barcelona, before leaving at the age of 13 and moving to Germany where he joined and spent a year at Hoffenheim where he was snapped up by FrankFurt.

Despite the tender age of 18, he has been granted a work permit in Germany and will link up with the senior squad in the new season. 

He has been touted as a future star by German media.
