Neither Napoli and Bayern Munich have particularly shone in pre-season so far with the Germans in particular on the receiving end of some eye-catching defeats.
The German champions endured a difficult time in the International Champions Cup, losing 4-0 to AC Milan and 2-0 to Inter before suffering a 3-0 loss in their own stadium against Liverpool on Tuesday in the Audi Cup.
With the German Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund coming up this weekend, Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping his side spark into life, to avoid contesting the first piece of silverware of the season off the back of another defeat.
Napoli, for their part, won three friendlies against lower league Italian opposition, before drawing 1-1 with Serie A side Chievo and losing 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the previous game of the Audi Cup.
Both teams to score looks an obvious selection, yet at 1/2 (1.50) it will attract attention only from the most serious of punters. Combining that selection, however, with over 2.5 goals in the game offers slightly more appealing odds of 8/11 (1.72) while there should also be some interest in the price of 15/8 (2.87) for Bayern to win but concede.
Napoli looked sharp going forward against Atletico and were only kept at bay by the brilliance of goalkeeper Jan Oblak. The Italians can generally be relied upon to score given their status as the most prolific side in Serie A last term, although they do not inspire too much confidence defensively.
The Partenopei scored but lost against Atletico and a repeat for the Italian looks to offer decent value. Elsewhere, the price of evens (2.00) for over 3.5 goals in the game could be worthy of consideration given that Bayern have been involved in some high scoring matches this summer.
