Sweden welcome Italy to the Friends Arena on Friday night in the first leg of their World Cup 2018 qualification play-off.

Janne Andersson’s men finished second in their qualifying group behind France but ahead of the Netherlands on goal difference with 19 points apiece, despite losing 2-0 in their last match to the Dutch.

Just one of their last three meetings between these two has ended in a stalemate and odds of (3.00) are on offer another one.

For the Italians, they finished five points behind Spain in Group G. The 2006 world champions last missed out on the summer finals in 1958 and will be looking to avoid the same scenario here.

Though Gian Piero Ventura's charges will likely miss the services of Ciro Immobile and Torino's Andrea Belotti for this encounter, they will still be expected to fire on all cylinders as they are not short of striking options.

With the stats swinging in their favour for this clash - having triumphed in four of their previous five games with their hosts, they are odds on at (2.15) to come out on top in this duel.

Goals will not be at a premium in this outing as the total goals scored between both sides in their past nine meetings is just 14. The betting outfit is therefore offering (1.50) for less than three goals to surface in Solna.

The Azzurri have been solid in defence lately as they have not let in goals in eight of their last 11 duel. Nairabet qoutes odds of (2.20) for them to keep a clean slate.

Italy have avoided defeat in their last five ties with the Swedish, though they are away from home, punters looking to make a good investment can back them to repeat the same feat at odds of (1.25).
