Morrison targets regular game time under Jonevret at Orlando Pirates

The Ghanaian has been in and out of the Bucs starting line-up this season, but he is now looking to play regularly under the new coach

Orlando Pirates midfielder Bernard Morrison hopes to make a big impact and cement his spot in the starting eleven under Kjell Jonevret.

“Look, the new coach has recently taken over and he gives every player in the team a chance. So, like any other fringe players in the team, I have no choice but to double my efforts to impress,” Morrison told Vodacom Soccer.

The 23-year-old returned to the Bucs starting line-up ahead of their 3-1 win over EC Bees in the Nedbank Cup last 32 two weeks ago.

“I was happy to be in the starting eleven in that Nedbank Cup game, though I think I could have done better in that game, but I was happy to be given a run, and I’m prepared to work even harder at training,” he said.

“One has to admit that Pirates is a big team with a number of quality players, which makes a competition for a starting berth very stiff,” the former AS Vita forward added.

“But, now I know where I need to work and improve as a player in the team of Pirates calibre in order to consolidate a place in the starting eleven,” Morrison concluded.
