Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa uses Spanish pun to pick new number at Standard

The El Tri shot-stopper picked an unusual number for a goalkeeper but showed his fun-loving personality with his jersey selection

Guillermo Ochoa took advantage of his move to Standard Liege to show a bit of his personality.

Ochoa's move to Standard disappoints

Rather than push for the typical goalkeeper No. 1 shirt, which Jean-Francois Gillet currently is wearing at the Belgian club, the Mexico international decided to go with a play on words. Ochoa is set to wear No. 8 this season.

And while it's an atypical number, it fits the 32-year-old well. The Spanish for eight is "ocho", the first portion of the shot-stopper's surname. The shot-stopper has used the nod to his last name's pronunciation for some time on social media with the tag @yosoy8a, meaning "I am Ocho-a".
