Memphis throws down challenge to PSG star Neymar

The former Manchester United man believes he can score more free kicks than the Brazil international over the course of the season

Having signed for Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record €222 million, it hasn’t take Neymar long to receive a challenge from a Ligue 1 rival.

PSG to win the UCL - 10/1

Memphis Depay joined Lyon from Manchester United in August and has laid down a challenge to the new PSG striker.

On his Instagram account, the Dutchman wrote: “Hey Neymar, welcome to Ligue 1! I look forward to see who nets the most free kicks this season – I’m most definitely up for the challenge.”

Memphis caught the eye last season when he scored from his own half in a fixture against Toulouse.

Neymar, meanwhile, may have a struggling winning the right to take free kicks for his new side after fellow new arrival Dani Alves scored a blistering effort against Monaco in the Trophee des Champions win against Monaco last Saturday.

The Brazilian hopes to debut against Amiens this week, but may have to wait for the round 2 match against Guingamp before pulling on his new club’s colours.
