The Bucs official confirmed that tacticians from all over the world have shown some interest in the coaching job

Orlando Pirates are reportedly eyeing a coach who is currently in charge of a national team at the ongoing 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Gabon.

The Buccaneers are currently on the hunt for a permanent head coach, who will replace interim coach Augusto Palacios before the current 2016/17 season ends.

According to The Sowetan, the club says "we have cast our net wide to find a new coach."

When asked by the publication whether they are looking to appoint who is currently in Gabon, Bucs administrative manager Floyd Mbele said: "That's a difficult question."

"It would be ideal to find someone as soon as possible," he continued.

"Some people may be employed at the moment, so that's why we can't say when it [the process] will be completed.

The Buccaneers have also been linked with Uganda head coach "Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic, who is currently guiding the Cranes in Gabon.

However, Mbele insisted that they are not looking to re-appoint Sredojevic. The Serbian tactician coached Bucs 11 years ago.

"Micho has done well for himself. We are happy that he has come through the club to show his abilities. But there has been no contact," Mbele said.

"The interest is coming from all over the world. There are those we might be looking at, so it's a mixed bag."

Palacios is currently preparing Bucs for their PSL clash with Bidvest Wits at the Ellis Park on February 3.
