Tusker won their sixth consecutive match after beating Mathare United on Saturday

Lack of top tier experience once again came into play for Mathare United as Tusker recorded their sixth consecutive win in the Kenyan Premier League on Saturday afternoon at the Ruaraka grounds, Nairobi.

The 'Slum boys' were caught napping by the defending champions within the first 90 seconds, and Michael Khamati made no mistake. It was a perfect start for George Nsimbe, but a nightmare for Francis Kimanzi.

Eight minutes on the clock and Crispin Oduor tried to force something from the wing, but he could not hit the target. It could have been all even in the 13th minute, but Chris Ochieng's weak effort did not trouble the goalkeeper.

The Brewers continued pressing for the second goal, and they could have scored in the 15th minute. The returning Wycliffe Kasaya was caught off position by Jackson Macharia, but his effort did not hit the target. Undoubtedly, the first-half belonged to Tusker, who could have gone to the break with more than one goal.

In the 50th minute, Tyson Otieno was introduced in place of Cliff Nyakeya, with Derrick Onyango also coming in for Alphonce Ndonye. Mathare United had a host of chances that they did not take, with Tusker at times looking vulnerable especially at the back.

That did not however matter in the 73rd minute after Shafik Batambuze sealed maximum points for the Brewers.

The win gives Tusker  their 24th point as Nsimbe aims at defending the crown won by his predecessor Paul Nkata.
