Nairobi City Stars coach Robert Matano has revealed his charges were not mentally ready to face Wazito in their National Super League match.

The Kawangware-based side suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat against the visitors at Camp Toyoyo on Sunday. Matano has however, expressed his optimism ahead of the team's second match next week.

"We had a few internal challenges that affected us, we did not manage to prepare well for the match and that reflected on the pitch. My players were not mentally prepared to play, but we will work on that and I believe next week we shall be better," Matano revealed to Goal.

"Wazito played well, took their chances and put the results beyond our reach, they were a better side today (Sunday).

Nairobi City Stars will face GFE 105, who defeated FC Talanta 5-2, in their next outing.
