The SuperSport United defensive duo of Tefu Mashamaite and Keegan Ritchie look set to return to action after a long term injury lay off. Mashamaite is yet to make his debut for Matsatsantsa while Ritchie has only played one Premier Soccer League(PSL) match since making the move from Naturena.
The Pretoria-based outfit are set to also welcome back forward Bradley Grobler who missed the latter stages of the first round through injury.
SuperSport head coach Stuart Baxter confirmed the news and was hopeful that the trio will return when the season resumes on February 7.
“Hopefully all three will be ready by the time we play Arrows,” Baxter told SunSport.
The former Kaizer Chiefs master tactician also revealed that other long term casualties, Thuso Phala, Grant Kekana and Fagrie Lakay are back in training but will not be ready to take on Abafana Bes’thende.
“It’s good news that they are back training but I doubt any will be fit for the Arrows game,” Baxter said.
The 63-year-old British born coach also expressed the need for rotation as he has the unenviable task of balancing Matsatsantsa’s exploits on three different fronts.
“I gave Masha a run against Mbombela United and used the tournament to rotate the squad. I will have to employ my rotation system with the Caf Confederation Cup, the league and the defence of the Nedbank Cup on the horizon.
“It’s going to be a tough five months and we will need depth, so it’s important we get all the injured players fit again.”
