The Brazilians were reportedly looking to sign Ofori as a direct replacement for Wayne Sandilands, who left the club for Orlando Pirates last week

Maritzburg United have announced the signing of Ghana International Richard Ofori.

The Black Stars goalkeeper was reportedly on the radar of Mamelodi Sundowns for quite some time, and it was previously reported that they had revived their interest in the 23-year-old after Wayne Sandilands departed the club in favour of a move to Orlando Pirates.

Nonetheless, the Team of Choice has swooped in and secured the services of Ofori on a three-year deal with an option to renew for a further year.

Ofori joins United from Ghanaian Premier League side Wa All Stars, and he looks destined to take over the No.1 jersey after the club parted ways with Namibian keeper Virgil Vries.
