Team News

Mourinho could be set to recall Nemaja Matic and Antonio Valencia who are back in training. Alexis Sanchez's participation is still in doubt while Luke Shaw is set to miss out after picking up an injury.

Tottenham's squad looks to have a clean bill of health at the time of writing as Mauricio Pochettino continues to integrate his World Cup stars back into the fold.

Harry Kane finally scored a top-flight goal in the month of August as is 5/4 (2.25) to make it back-to-back strikes here. The England captain already boasts 18 goals against the “big six” teams in his career.

Preview

Old Trafford hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Tottenham. In fact, no London team has won away at this venue since Spurs came out on top in 2014. Following that result, clubs from the capital have taken just seven points from a possible 66 at the venue.

While this is obviously one of the better chances to buck that trend, there look to be better options for punters than backing the visitors at a relatively short price given their struggles in recent seasons.

Manchester United v Tottenham Betting PreviewGoal

Mourinho's usual tactic against fellow top four rivals is to deploy a very defensive formation but United's struggles at the Amex Stadium indicate that such an approach is unlikely to do the trick. Both teams to score could appeal at 8/11 (1.73) ahead of Monday’s clash.

In fact, United kept only one clean sheet when hosting teams who finished in the top six last season and given David De Gea's poor form of late, the Spain international can't be relied upon to keep the visitors at bay.

Predictions

With the home defence looking particularly unsteady, this looks a terrific opportunity to back goals at Old Trafford.

The over 2.5 goals line is available at 21/20 (2.05) with Betway despite landing in each of United's two games so far this season as well as seven of their home matches against top half teams last term.

With Kane looking increasingly sharp and Mourinho's strikers under pressure to deliver considering their defensive frailties, a high-scoring game looks a very solid option at odds against.
