Manchester City will be hoping to maintain their fantastic form when they host Shakhtar Donetsk in Tuesday's tussle from Champions League Group F.
Pep Guardiola's men enjoyed a fine 4-0 victory against Feyenoord in Rotterdam earlier this month and, having hit a stunning 22 goals in their last five fixtures, the men from Manchester will be brimming with belief ahead of their meeting with the Ukrainian champions.
Shakhtar caused something of a sensation in their Champions League curtain-raiser by beating Serie A side Napoli and Paulo Fonseca's men, who are unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions, will have confidence that they can upset the odds once again here.
Guardiola's team, though, are Genting's 2/11 (1.18) favourites to pick up another three points in this match, while the same firm offer a chunky 12/1 (13.0) that Shakhtar claim a famous victory in Manchester; Genting go 6/1 (7.0) that these two teams settle for a share of the spoils from this one.
City will be determined to strengthen their hand in Group F ahead of next month's double-header against Napoli and Guardiola's team will be confident that they can get amongst the goals again; Genting go just 1/3 (1.34) that this match produces more than two goals, while City are available at 2/9 (1.22) to grab the first goal of the game for a sixth successive match.
Guardiola's side have, rightly, attracted plenty of attention in recent weeks for their scintillating scoring form, but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss will, surely, have been delighted by his team's determined defending in recent weeks; City have conceded just one goal in their last five fixtures and Genting offer 3/4 (1.75) that the hosts shut out Shakhtar, while the same firm quote 7/10 (1.70) that Manchester City win without conceding for the sixth time in all competitions this season.
Shakhtar claimed a thrilling 4-2 win on their travels in domestic competition on Saturday and Fonseca's charges could well find themselves involved in another goal-laden game here; there have been at least four goals scored in eight of City's 11 Champions League matches under Guardiola and Genting go 4/5 (1.80) that the trend continues in this match.
City are riding the crest of a wave at present and, given their superb scoring form, Genting’s 8/15 (1.53) quote for the men from Manchester to lead at both half time and full time looks to be a solid selection, while the 4/9 (1.44) quote for City to win a game in which at least three goals are scored could well prove popular.
Better value, though, could lie in backing Guardiola’s team to win by at least three clear goals could represent best value for punters; the 11/10 (2.10) selection would have landed in four of the last five matches that Guardiola’s team have won in all competitions.
