Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane taking nothing for granted against Kaizer Chiefs

Masandawana are currently five points clear of Amakhosi as the two sides prepare to lock horns on Saturday

Mamelodi Sundowns may have recently brushed aside a struggling Platinum Stars outfit, but their coach Pitso Mosimane refuses to get too ahead of himself as his focus now shifts to the weekend’s all-important encounter against Kaizer Chiefs .

Masandawana are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table, five points clear of third placed Amakhosi. But despite the Brazilians visible advantage over the Soweto giants, Mosimane is taking nothing for granted as Steve Komphela’s men have already taken three points from Sundowns earlier in the season.

Nonetheless, with revenge seemingly on the cards for the Tshwane giants, the 53-year-old has already begun playing mind games with the opposition, choosing to downplay his side’s chances against the Glamour Boys.

"I wish I could play these big games with a fully fit team and compete fairly‚" Mosimane said on The Sowetan.

"But I can't complain because the same team that lost to Chiefs played well,” he added.

Mosimane further explained that Sundowns need to box smart against an organised Chiefs outfit, and cannot afford to play into play into their hands by leaving themselves vulnerable to the counterattack.

"We need to be smart against Chiefs,” he explained.

"Not be all over the place. We know how they play," Mosimane addded.

"We must also avoid playing into their hands because we are playing away and somebody must attack," he concluded.
