Malukeka had to settle for a place on the bench against Highlands Park, and he was replaced by Lucky Baloyi

Kaizer Chiefs have explained the main reason behind George Maluleka's omission from the starting line-up against Highlands Park last weekend.

According to the club's medical team, Maluleka had a calf muscle strain and the technical team decided to rest him as a precaution.

However, the 28-year-old is back to full training, and should be available for selection when Amakhosi visit Ajax Cape Town this coming weekend.

“It was a minor setback and George returned today to full training,” Amakhosi's physiotherapist David Milner said.

Meanwhile, Siphiwe Tshabalala got a knock against the Lions of the North, and he will be assessed this week before a decision can made on whether or not he will travel with the team to Cape Town.

“Shabba came back with a knock. We will assess him for the next few days,” Milner added.

The Glamour Boys will definitely be without Lorenzo Gordinho, who picked up his fourth yellow card after scoring the only goal of the game against Highlands Park in Durban.

His defensive partner Erick Mathoho though, will make a welcome return to the side having already served his one-match ban.
