Malaysia U15 fell to a 1-0 defeat in their Torneo Delle Nazioni 2017 opener against Mexico U15 on Monday evening.

The only goal of the match was scored by Oliver Correa Tovar in the 57th minute, following a miscommunication between a Malaysia defender and goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Sikh Azman. The match was held at the Wörthersee Stadion, Austria with each half lasting 35 minutes.

Head coach Lim Teong Kim was nevertheless pleased by the performance, if not the result.

"In overall I'm very happy with the performance. The boys played against one of the best teams in the world.

"Of course it would have been better if it was a draw for us, unfortunately because of one mistake by our centre back and goalkeeper, we conceded.

"We had our chances in the first half, we could have scored at least two goals in the first half...," said the former Bayern Munich youth coach in an interview on the team's social media.
