Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have handed new midfielder Baba 'John' Mahama the vacant No.10 shirt for his maiden season after completing a three-year deal from Techiman City.

The 19-year-old became an instant hit in his first top-flight season with Techiman last year, making 25 appearances and scoring four goals.

"I've got to be happy because the support the fans, players and top hierarchy have shown me is overwhelming. I am highly impressed although I have not been here for long but they trust my abilities already," Mahama told Goal.

"I have met my new teammates, train and chat with them and I think I will be ready for the season. The club is yet to win any major trophy in the last two seasons and it brings tension. I'm aware of the target because I was briefed what the objectives are for the season so it is my hope to play a major role.
