Liverpool team news: Van Dijk starts against Tottenham

Jurgen Klopp makes two changes to his defence as the chase for a top-four place speeds up against Spurs at Anfield

Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren are paired together for the first time as Liverpool host Tottenham on Sunday.

The £75 million signing was on the bench for the 3-0 victory at Huddersfield Town, but partners the Croatian in the heart of defence at Anfield.

Van Dijk’s three other starts for the club have been alongside Joel Matip, who switches to the bench.

Trent Alexander-Arnold replaces Joe Gomez at right-back, who misses out through injury.

Jurgen Klopp's side are otherwise unchanged in midfield and attack.

Last time out, they beat Huddersfield 3-0, with Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah on target.
