The KZN side had been struggling at left-back position in the absence of Lehlohonolo Nonyane, but Larsen tells Goal that Mthiyane has filled the void

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says he is impressed with Nkosinathi Mthiyane's impact since joining the club on a six-month loan deal from Orlando Pirates at the start of the year.

“I have been very impressed with Mthiyane. It’s a player we know well even from his days at AmaZulu. So, he has come and solved a big problem for us,” Larsen told Goal.

With his loan deal coming to an end at the end of the season, Larsen is unsure at this stage whether they will look to retain him permanently or let him return to his parent club.

“He has come in and done really well and we are happy for him and we are happy for the club. Like I said one of the problems we had in that position has been the injury to (Lehlohonolo) Nonyane,” Larsen said.

“In terms of wanting to keep him, I can’t answer that because he is not a Golden Arrows players. He is an Orlando Pirates player. It will be up to them to decide what they want to do with him,” Larsen continued.

Furthermore, Larsen hopes to have Nonyane back for their remaining five games of the season.

“Nonyane is still recovering doing his rehab. He had a hernia operation so he will probably still be out a few weeks, but I am hoping he can play the last five or even seven games of the league,” Larsen concluded.
