The 19-year-old Uruguayan is the latest addition to Bob Bradley's side ahead of their debut season in Major League Soccer

LAFC continued to shape its roster Thursday by signing Diego Rossi as the second youngest designated player in MLS history.

The MLS side, which is coached by former U.S. national team boss Bob Bradley and will begin play in 2018, reached an agreement with the 19-year-old forward's current club Penarol of Uruguay’s Primera Division. The transfer will become official on Jan. 1.

Rossi becomes Major League Soccer's second youngest DP in history behind Fabian Castillo, who signed with FC Dallas in 2011 at 18.

“Diego is a young and exciting attacking player,” Bradley said. “His experiences at Penarol and his ability fit perfectly with our vision of the team we are building at LAFC. We believe Diego will mature into a top-class player.”

After scoring 10 goals for Penarol this season and helping the club win its 51st Uruguayan club championship, Rossi joins Mexico's Carlos Vela and Egypt's Omar Gaber as LAFC's marquee signings. The club also added Walker Zimmerman, Laurent Ciman, Tyler Miller, Latif Blessing, and Marco Urena this month.

Rossi began his career in Penarol's youth system at age 12 and worked his way up to the first team in 2016. In 47 appearances, he scored 13 goals in all competitions, including the Copa Libertadores.

On the international level, Rossi has played for the Uruguay Under-17 and U-20 teams, scoring 10 goals for Uruguay in 39 appearances while helping the nation win the U-20 South American Championship.
