The France international has settled quickly at Emirates Stadium, but those around him are aware that they can help to bring even more out of him

Arsenal need to offer Alexandre Lacazette better service in order to unlock his full potential, admits Petr Cech.

The Gunners broke their transfer record to land the France international over the summer, with Arsene Wenger spending big to secure the services of a striker he had been tracking for some time.

Lacazette has settled quickly at Emirates Stadium, netting eight times in 18 Premier League appearances so far.

Cech, though, believes that there is even more to come from the 26-year-old, with it up to those around him to ensure that Arsenal get full benefit from a proven predatory goalscorer.

The veteran goalkeeper told the Evening Standard: “Alex is a very intelligent player.

“The way he plays, obviously, he has adapted quickly to the way we play. I think we, as a team, we need to get more out of him because sometimes he makes a very good movement but the ball does not arrive every time at the right moment.

“I think it’s a matter of time [before we see his best]. But for a player who has just come to the Premier League, he’s had a pretty good run.

“He has immense quality in front of goal. If you see his ratio from how many shots he actually takes, it’s just a matter of time before more goals will come.”

Lacazette’s eight goals have come from just 40 shots, placing him among the most clinical frontmen in England with a 20 per cent conversion rate.

That record suggests that Arsenal should be doing all they can to get him into the game on a more regular basis, as he will clearly take opportunities if they come his way.

He has shown that throughout his career, with a productive spell at home-town club Lyon prior to joining the Gunners seeing him find the target 129 times in 275 appearances – including a 37-goal haul in 2016-17.
