The new signing endured an unpleasant first leg with former side, mostly being confined to the bench with injury

Victor Ashinga has returned to Mathare United after inking a two-year deal with the 'slum boys'.

Ashinga, 24,  formerly of Thika United, played for Mathare United in the youth structure before moving out. He becomes the fourth player to join the 'slum boys' after Frank Liyayi, Samuel Olwande and Ronald Reagan in the June’s transfer window. The new signing endured an unpleasant first leg with his former side, mostly being confined to the bench with a knee injury.

“I am happy to be back on the pitch and I have been working very hard in training.” he was quoted on the club’s official website.

“I did not play in the first leg and I am taking that as a challenge to break into the first team. I want to rediscover my form and help Mathare United go back where it belongs.”

The former Kenya U-20 interrnational is expected to fill the void left by Edward Seda, who is still on the nursing bed should he beat Roy Okal and Abubakar Keya to the starting role. “We are not sure about when Seda will be back in action so we had to get somebody to make up for his absence.
