Ulinzi Stars striker Stephen Waruru will be summoned to appear before Kenyan Premier League Disciplinary Committee over chaos that marred their match against Gor Mahia on Sunday.

KPL CEO Jack Oguda has revealed to Goal that the league’s top scorer will be required to appear before the committee after being adversely mentioned in the report presented to the body by the match referee. “We have summoned Waruru to appear before the disciplinary committee.

Gor Mahia accuse Waruru for chaos in Kisumu match

“This is because the referee has mentioned him in the report that we received today (Tuesday). He has been accused of provoking Gor Mahia fans after he scored the second goal for Ulinzi Stars and he must appear before the committee to clear his name.”

Waruru has already denied provoking Gor Mahia fans saying in a statement, "Those are blatant lies and people are just trying to justify acts of hooliganism. No one raised a finger to them. I just celebrated my goal by removing my jersey. Them (Gor Mahia) turning it around and saying I made an abusive gesture is quite unfortunate.”

Gor Mahia will also face disciplinary action for the crowd trouble at Moi Stadium in Kisumu. “Yes Gor Mahia will also face disciplinary action because of what the fans did. The club will also be summoned to give their side of the story but the behavior of their fans will definitely land them in trouble.”

Waruru responds to Gor Mahia allegations over chaos

The league match was stopped in the 90th minute when Waruru scored Ulinzi Stars second goal to cancel out Gor Mahia’s 2-1 lead.
