The Porcupine Warriors management announced the dismissal of the Croatian moments after the team’s home draw with Ebusua Dwarfs in Kumasi on Sunday

Asante Kotoko have terminated the contract of head coach Zdravko Lugarusic after an emergency meeting held at the club’s secretariat in Kumasi in the wake of the team’s goalless draw with Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday.

The Croatian, who joined the Porcupine Warriors last January, was facing criticisms from fans and officials due to his adopted 3-5-2 formation and reports suggested that Sunday’s game with Dwarfs would either redeem or remove him.

“Zdravko’s contract has been terminated. He has accepted the official notification given to him. Assistant coach, Godwin Ablordey will train with the team until further notice” Head of Communications, Obed Acheampong told Kotoko’s official website Asantekotokosc.com.

“Zdravko, at the emergency management meeting, acknowledged the need for change in the technical direction of the club and therefore accepted management's decision to cut ties with him,” he said.

Zdravko guided Kotoko through 11 league matches, winning five, drawing four and losing two.

Kotoko are second on the log, trailing leaders Wafa by four points.
