Komphela not making any pronouncements to Kaizer Chiefs' PSL title chances

Amakhosi kept their PSL title hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in midweek

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela refuses to get ahead of himself after seeing them stretch their unbeaten run to 11 PSL games with a win over Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.

“I can say we are still in the race with a couple of matches to play but I must be careful not to make any pronouncements,” Komphela told Times Media Digital.

Amakhosi will welcome Chippa United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday looking to keep their PSL title chase intact against a side who beat them 3-1 in the first round last December.

“We will respect the opponents. Some pronouncements can be seen as a sign of arrogance and we need to be careful about what we say,” he said.

“But we are well within the dogs who are chasing the big one,” Komphela added.

With Bernard Parker suspended, fellow striker Gustavo Paez, who has three goals in his last two games, is likely to start upfront against the Chilli Boys.

“I don’t want to warn (Chippa coach) Dan Malesela before the game,” Komphela said in reference to whether Paez will or not.
