The Soweto giants are currently placed second on the PSL log, and Khune is not surprised because they have been following Komphela's instructions

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has showered praise on his teammates for turning their situation around and getting the team back into the title race.

The 29-year-old skipper said Amakhosi's recent form is due to the amount of hard work they put in at the training grounds and on matchdays.

Chiefs are unbeaten in their last five league matches, and they're on the brink of a fifth successive league win for the first time since the 2014/15 season.

"Winning games is something we have worked hard for as a team and everyone in the team deserves all the praise and credit. It’s not a one-man show, because we are all working hard on ourselves and it’s showing," Khune told the Amakhosi website.

"As players we have been tough mentally, especially during the difficult period earlier on in the season and that togetherness has allowed us to enjoy this period as a team where we are five games unbeaten," he said.

"Now, we want to achieve more as a team and continue with the good run of winning [ganes] and the mentality is showing in every aspect of our game which is crucial at this stage of the season" Khune continued.

The South Africa international is not surprised that the Glamour Boys have been doing well, saying the players are now playing according to Steve Komphela's instructions.

"We are at a point where we are very competitive; we’re doing what the coaching staff is asking from us to do, and we’re trying to do it in the proper fashion. Some of the football we have played has been good to see. The confidence is high," Khune concluded.
