The 30-year-old -who made his return to his country of birth Germany after ending his contract with Spain's Las Palmas by mutual consent- started from the bench as Frankfurt held Freiburg to a goalless stalemate on Sunday.

He would then come on for Daichi Kamada in the 67th minute.

At Die Adler, Boateng is reunited with coach Niko Kovac and sporting executive Fredi Bobic, having been at Hertha Berlin with them.

He has also played for, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke in Germany, AC Milan in Italy and Tottenham Hotspur in England.
