Ex-Kenya coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has led tributes for the fallen hero alongside former Kenya One Mathews Ottamax

A number of sports personalities are mourning the sudden demise of former Harambee Stars captain Bernard Agunda.

Agunda, who also played for Tusker FC in the Kenyan Premier League, passed away on Monday. His lifeless body was discovered at his Umoja Estate house by friends in the morning of Monday. Former Harambee  Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has led tributes for the fallen star alongside former Kenya One, Mathews Ottamax.

'Ghost' said, "I pay tribute to Bernard Agunda 'Makambo', who was found dead in his bead early morning on Monday. Midfield general for Tusker and Harambee Stars won Castle Cup in 2013. RIP maestro.

On his part Ottamax said, "One of the few footballers, who could get a ball past me in my prime, Bernard AGUNDA MAKAMBO! Am writing this in tears not ink. Jericho's Magic 90 finest and that's where we first faced off.”

AFC Leopards U-20 coach Boniface Ambani wrote; "Oooh no...not again. This is just too much. Benard Agunda. Rest In Peace Middle field maestro. Just can't believe this. Nkt. Eish. Surely?

Zambian coach linked with a move to Gor Mahia

Agunda, better known by his peers as ‘Makambo’, won the Castle Lager Cup with Harambee Stars in 2002 under Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee. He also skippered Tusker FC to Council of East and Central Africa (Cecafa) champions in 2008. Last week, Agunda was spotted having drinks with friends in Eastlands though the course of his death was not immediately established.
