Kenyan star set to be released by South African club

The former Chemelil Sugar centre-back is set to be released early next week despite having a running contract

Kenyan defender Joseph Okumu is understood to be on his way out of South Africa club, Free State Stars.

The 20-year-old, Okumu moved to South Africa in August 2016 but his stay could soon come to an end after he agreed to terminate his contract despite having a running contract until 2019.

The former Chemelil Sugar centre-back is set to be released early next week according to South African website, Kick-Off.

"The club is currently busy with his situation, as you already know Thokozani [Sekotlong] has been released and Kenyan centre-back Joseph Okumu is to follow."

However, Free State Stars are yet to release an official statement on the player's future.
