Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) today confirmed that they have accepted Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) request to postponed their Super League match against Kelantan that was initially scheduled for 4 February 2017. In a letter released by FMLLP, the request submitted by JDT was considered and approved.

In light of JDT's progress to the playoff stage of the 2017 Asian Champions League (ACL) after overcoming Thailand's Bangkok United yesterday, the Southern Tigers are now due to face Japan's Gamba Osaka on 7 February 2017. Therefore JDT made the request to allow them more time to prepare for arguably their biggest game of the season thus far.

FMLLP has also taken this into account and made the postponement decision to enable JDT to have more time to prepare for the crunch tie. It's the first time that JDT has managed to get this far in the ACL having been knocked out in the qualifying stage in the last two years.

JDT beat Bangkok United on penalty shoot-out after Jaycee Okwunwanne scored the equalising goal for the latter in the dying minute of extra time. Safiq Rahim had earlier opened the scoring in the first half of extra time. Both teams failed to find the net in the normal 90 minutes of the match.

Gamba Osaka plays in the first division of the J-League and are former winners of the ACL back in 2008. They last won the J1 in 2014 with the magnificent Yasuhito Endo at the heart of their midfield.
