The Chanji Boys’ striker has stated that his removal in the tie with the Makurdi side was not because of any relapse

Katsina United’s striker, Chinedu Udechukwu allays fear of a fresh injury following his substitution against Lobi Stars.

Udechukwu missed five successive league matches for the Chanji Boys after he copped an ankle injury in their away loss to Nasarawa United on June 8.

And he made a scoring return to the team on Sunday when he netted in the fourth minute in their 2-1 home win over the Ortom Boys but was replaced by Ado Ali in the 76th minute of the encounter.

“I am fine and in top shape for our next league match. I was replaced after the coaches noticed that I got muscle pull. I last played a league game over a month ago and it is expected that I will be eased in gradually. I am happy to have scored on my league return. It is the best gift for me after my return,” Udechukwu told Goal.

“We did everything possible to get the important win because we are aware we must beat Lobi Stars for us to brighten our chances of remaining in the league at the end of the season. Our opponents came all out with the believe that they could get at least a point but we showed them we needed the points better than them.”

Katsina United are 12th on the league table with 38 points from 28 games and will make a long road trip to Ibadan as guests of Shooting Stars this weekend in another league clash.
