Kariobangi Sharks overcame fellow newbies Nakumatt by a solitary goal on Monday

Kariobangi Sharks beat Nakumatt FC 1-0 in a league match played on Monday.

Kariobangi Sharks came into the match with the aim of collecting maximum points and their intentions were clear as early as the 5th minute when Ellie Asieche fed Calvin Odongo well, only for the latter to fail to put it in the net.

About a quarter an hour later, the Sharks won a corner and the unmarked midfielder Patillah Omotto had a chance to put his side ahead, however he shot straight at the goalkeeper.

It was a wakeup call for the opponents who upped their game and managed to control the midfield, though the team lacked a cutting edge. After 20 minutes, it was Odongo with the ball again, and this time round, Nakumatt were rescued by the crossbar.

Nakumatt continued struggling in their offensive side, with hardworking Kepha Aswani looking isolated at times. Ronald Musana and Joshua Oyoo had balls in a good area but did nothing meaningful with it as the first half ended barren.

After the break, the hosts came back stronger winning successive corners within the early five minutes, but nothing worked for them.

Substitute Francis Manoa troubled goalkeeper Sammy Okinda with a good shot, and a few minutes later, it was Masoud Juma who unleashed a fierce strike that missed inches wide. The hosts’ attacks finally paid off in the 67th minute courtesy.

Ellie Asieche unleashed a good shot that the keeper parried, but Masoud Juma was in the right position to tap in the rebound. It was all the Sharks needed to bag maximum points.
