Egyptian giants Ismaily are tracking Kenyan youngster Ovella Ochieng’, Goal understands.
This after the Kariobangi Sharks player impressed during an international friendly pitting Kenya's U20 side against their Egyptian counterparts in Cairo on Monday.
The North African giants won this tie 3-2 having raced to a 3-0 lead at halftime, but the Kenyan youngsters came out forcefully to reduce the deficit in the second stanza, courtesy of two goals from Ochieng’ in the 50th and 84th minutes.
Ochieng’ is said to have endeared himself to the North African agents and club officials who were watching this contest at the national stadium, especially with his pace, skills, decision making and shooting accuracy.
Goal also understands that Kenya's technical bench led by coach John Kamau had a tough time restricting some agents from securing audience with Ovella at the team's hotel after the match, with concerns over the teenager’s ability to make an informed decision.
Either way Ismaily, who have won the Egyptian league title on three separate occasions, have fired the first salvo and initiated contact with the Kenyan Premier League club over a possible sale.
"The Egyptians are so impressed with this lad and are willing to take him in straight away. The opening offer which will be submitted to Sharks this week could be in the region of $40000 (about Sh4 million)." a source who is privy to the goings on told Goal.
Ovella who has also represented the senior national team on three occasions, is in the meantime set to experience his debut season in the Kenyan Premier League this season.
