'Kane is twice the player Lukaku is' - Chelsea's striker targets questioned by Cundy

A man who represented the Blues and Tottenham in his playing days believes that Antonio Conte should be exploring other options in the summer window

Harry Kane is “twice the player” Romelu Lukaku is and a better strike option than Cristiano Ronaldo at present, says Jason Cundy.

The former Chelsea defender, who also represented Tottenham in his playing days, has been discussing the Blues’ reported strike targets for the 2017 summer transfer window.

A move for Lukaku has been mooted, with the Belgian having built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s finest frontmen after being allowed to leave Stamford Bridge for Everton.

Lukaku: My future is decided

It would take a sizeable fee to bring him back to west London and Cundy believes there are superior options out there, with Lukaku considered to be lacking in certain departments.

He told talkSPORT: "If you are giving me the option to buy either one of those players, I'd take Kane every single day of the week over Lukaku.

"I would rather Harry Kane over Cristiano Ronaldo, too.

"All-round, the value he's going to bring, because of what he can do, the player he's going to turn into. I have faith in my judgment.

"Harry Kane is twice the player Lukaku is - based on my eyes, based on my knowledge, based on what I see.

"He's twice the player, Kane is twice the player.

"Harry Kane is a better player, he can hold the ball up with his back to goal and Lukaku can't.

"However you dress it up, the better player is Harry Kane."

Tottenham have seen Kane generate plenty of transfer speculation in recent years, but he committed to a lucrative new contract in December 2016 and is a home-grown talent revelling in his role under Mauricio Pochettino.

While he is not looking for an imminent move, Lukaku has regularly expressed a desire to grace a Champions League stage in the not too distant future.
